Earth Day 2019: Our Commitment to the Environment

Earth Day is our yearly reminder to treat the world around us with care and respect so that we can be good stewards for future generations.

With that in mind, we wanted to share some of the ways that the garments offered to artists on our site, DTG inks, and print-on-demand printing process allow us to stay committed to the environment and reduce waste along the way.

Garments Offered to Artists

Many of the garments offered to artists are 100% cotton, which eliminates the waste associated with spinning polymers into thread. Classic solid-color shirts are 100% Cotton, 'Heather Grey' shirts are 90/10% Cotton/Polyester blend, and the other heather colors are 50/50% or 60/40% Cotton/Polyester blend.

Sourcing Those Garments

These apparel products are made in safe, fair-wage factories that are free of sweatshop and child labor. Additionally, they are Fair Labor and NAFTA certified, and also certified by WRAP, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting ethical manufacturing through education.

The Inks

The printers use sustainable, non-hazardous, and toxin-free production standards. Inks are 100% biodegradable, water-based, contain no animal by-products, and are vegan-friendly!

Conveniences of using POD

Print-on-Demand means low risk for you as an entrepreneur and lower waste for us. Specifically: 

• No up-front costs
  You don't have to buy products on which to print your goods; everything is printed when it's purchased, so you don't have to try to guess what your audience wants ahead of time.
• No storage
  You don't have to hold any stock to have a store. Your store is completely digital, and your printed products ship directly from one of eight unique printers. The printers hold only the number of blanks that they've been projected to need.
• No waste!
  Everything is printed at the moment your customer wants it, so that reduces waste throughout the supply chain, eliminating unnecessary costs and reducing your environmental impact. As mentioned before, the inks the printers use are biodegradable and vegan.

Though we are always working with the fulfillment centers to improve the printing processes to become more environmentally friendly, we're proud to share some aspects of our commitment to the environment with you.
