Two Words: Carbon Footprint
In 2019, we proudly offset our carbon footprint by partnering with 3Degrees to support both a forestry program and a landfill-gas reduction program.
Basically, offsetting our 2019 carbon footprint was like...
Growing 11,217 tree seedlings for 10 years.
Taking 143 cars off the road for 1 year.
NOT using 1,558 barrels of oil.
So, why reforestation?
Glad you asked! Although we work hard to minimize the paper waste involved in getting you your one-of-a-kind product, we haven’t gotten it down to zero yet. So, to make up for the paper use in production, we focused on reforestation. This boosts air quality, water quality, flood control, and biodiversity.
Pretty cool, huh?
And uh...what’s landfill gas reduction all about?
The textile industry is one of the largest contributors to landfills - and textiles don't decompose quickly. As much as we encourage customers to donate/recycle/reuse unwanted garments - and despite our home base's focus to do the same - we are, unfortunately, contributing to this waste.
By focusing efforts on reducing these gases, we are working to neutralize some of the effects of this textile waste on the planet.
